Learn 2.0 Lesson 10...Whew!

I have come to the end of the course...although I intend to continue to enhance this journal with further posts as I go back and review this entire course to glean more from my points of interest as well as address some of the optional adventures that I did have time to complete.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my exploration into the world of Web 2.0. I will use my mp3 player to further exlore this world. Also I intend to use it to further my knowledge and abilities as a minister and teacher of God's Word the Bible. I have been doing this for over 30 years now.

Digital Rights Management Debate....

If we all lived by the same set of ethics which would be an ideal world, everyone would respect the rights of others and ther would be no need for the endless cycle of regulations and legislation to plug the holes in the previous regulations. There is One who is going to bring about such a world, and soon, and thats all I have to say about that!

On the subject of Mashups

In week 6 we were introduced to the concept of Mashups. I cam a cross a link to an article about Web 2.0 search engines that contain Mashups of a couple of the resources that we explored in the Learn 2.0 course. One is FlickrStorm, I encourage you to do a search on OCLS and see the results. Another is Similicio.us that is a mashup for del.icio.us.
Check it out at.....

What I like a about...

This is truly an enlightening course! I found a few of the library resources useful. Elf is a nice supplement to the OCLS catalog accounts for tracking loans and Gurulib is a handy resource for cataloging personal libraries. Shelfari seems to be an ideal resource for the avid reader to social network with other avid readrs. I personally don't have the time for recreational reading. Life is just too overwhelming in these last days. a prophet once said that "in the last days, critical times hard to deal with will be here". I find this to be very true. But I try to make time each day to learn new things. I like learning new things. This is a good thing for me because my occupation requires that I always be learning new things. This seems to apply also to anyone who works in a library system. Thank you Tom for directing us to all of these new resources that would have taken a long time to discover on our own.

It Keeps Getting Better

This Protopage is terrific. I know that I will be using this alot. I found Toms pics and profile and what town that he is from.

Games are for kids....

Although I found the Web 2.0 aspects of lesson 7 interesting, I was not interested in any of the content of the sites. I dont eat Trix either.

A Quick Review

If you would like to quickly review the links in the Learn 2.0 lessons, I created a Web Page with all of the links that I have been to so far. Learn 2.0 Links

Web 2.0 4 the Library

Wow! There is a ton of Web 2.0 resources for the library lovers & beyond. There is a book trading site call Book Mooch. It is similar to Titletrader, but titletrader also enables exchange of other media like Videos & Cds also. The mashups are cool. They comibne Ebay with other resources such as Real Estate for sale, Learn 2.0 participants, and Vehicles for sale. A lot to explore in Lessson #6.

Up-to-Date

I just reviewed the first 5 weeks of Learn 2.0 to see if I missed anything. Wow! there is a lot there. I could learn something new again and again. I made myself a spreadsheet with the lessons and all the links so I can go back and review.

Largest known star!

I found this item when searching Grokker and I intend to do some research on it:
"The largest star that is known is a star in the constellation of Auriga, the charioteer. Its name is Epsilon Aurigae. It is thought to be a gigantic star that is about 2,700 times the size of the Sun!"

RSS Feeds are super

I setup an account on Bloglines and I subscribed to some very interesting blogs. I like being able to keep up with OCLS activity by means of the blogs.

Where to find Windows Vista Drivers?

Everyone who has tried to install Windows Vista on a machine that did not have it pre-installed on knows the frustration of not being able to find all the drivers needed, so I went to Grokker and did a search on Vista drivers and found a link that has a catalog of drivers for Windows Vista. The link is http:\\www.radarsync.com/vista.
